Dr. Harold Rosenbaum –
Author & Visionary in Choral Music
A Life in Sound
Dr. Rosenbaum is the visionary founder and conductor of two groundbreaking ensembles—the professional New York Virtuoso Singers and the volunteer Canticum Novum Singers. He has led over 1,900 concerts, premiered 600+ works (plus numerous U.S./NY premieres), and commissioned 120 composers.
Retired from prominent teaching roles at Juilliard, Queens College, SUNY Buffalo (Professor Emeritus), and Adelphi, Rosenbaum remains a sought-after mentor, lecturer, and editor (G. Schirmer’s Choral Series, Peermusic’s New Voices). His influence extends across composing communities—from ASCAP to BMI award winners, and he founded the esteemed Harold Rosenbaum Choral Conducting Institute.
